Mission to Seniors is an exciting outreach work which seeks to serve the spiritual and social needs of seniors from our own church, other churches, and also those who can no longer easily attend any services.
The annual programme is available on the Seniors Calendar. The main meetings are Silver Service (the first Thursday in the month), a discipleship group ‘Reflections’, Songs of Praise afternoon twice a year, services in local residential homes and, in the summer, two half days of fun-packed activity, the very popular Holiday at Home.
Winchester Wellbeing run lunches here at Winchester Baptist Church on Tuesday and Thursday each week and at St Barnabas on Monday each week – a dedicated team of volunteers help run these lunches and transport seniors to our meetings whenever possible.
The Mission to Seniors began in 2005 and has grown from strength to strength. About 60 people presently attend the monthly Silver Services. Any senior folk are welcome to attend.
‘Reflections’ is a smaller group who meet together to further explore aspects of Christian life, through Bible study and through sharing life experiences.
Whatever the meeting, tea and cakes, laughter and fun, seem to form a crucial part of our times together! Our team are always on hand to offer support, prayer, and a friendly listening ear whenever folk express a need.
