The Edge

Building disciples who build disciples

The Edge is our youth group for those in school years 9-13. We aim to be a Christian community for young people, relating the gospel in relevant, practical and living ways. The Edge exists to provide a safe, fun place for young people to explore their journey with God and become passionate followers of Jesus.  We do this through a varied programme which includes worship evenings, small groups, social action projects, socials & a summer residential.

As a group we place a high priority on ‘loving, serving and praying for; each other, our city, our country and our world’, putting this into practice with Edge Mini-Missions throughout the year. We are very much a part of the wider church, with Edgers volunteering in all areas of church life from children’s work to worship to serving coffee! We are aiming to be peer led in all that we do because we believe that God has equipped us with his gifts to build up other followers of Jesus, glorify God & reach those who don’t know Him yet.

‘Jesus said, ‘Come and have breakfast!’’

The young people at WBC meet together on Sunday mornings during the service, usually after the first half an hour of worship with the main congregation. Fresh is made up of 3 main components: Fun, Food and Friendship. We aim to spend time together as a group looking at what it means to be like and follow Jesus in a way relevant to us as a group of y7-y11’s.

We have a brilliant team of leaders who run the sessions in our amazing youth room, complete with TV, DVD player, seriously comfy sofas and yes, more food! Fresh is a space where we can come and figure out what faith in God looks like for us, with a variety of activities including: chatting about what the Bible says, small groups, interactive prayer and worship, testimonies, and tons of weird and wonderful games.

For those in school years 7 and 8, we have socials 6 times a year through our group ‘Connect’, click here for more info.  In addition to this, Fresh joins together with Edge, our older youth group, for regular socials, youth led services and youth weekends away.

Fun, Food, Friends

We believe that it’s hard to be a proper youth ‘family’ unless you spend lots of time having fun and getting to know each other, so this is why, at Winbap, we have regular social events for the Edge and Fresh and all their friends. Usually on a Friday night, and twice a term, these events range from trips out to Playzone and Monopoly Live in London to nights in watching movies! There is an annual Christmas Ball each December which includes a 3 course sit down dinner and dance with a live band and a DJ.

We have a youth weekend away (all youth, usually March) and a week long residential each year (y8 and above, July/August) with more chances to get to know each other and spend time with God away from the daily grind of school and college.
