Barry & Heather Mann
Barry & Heather work with Africa Inland Mission (AIM) & Growing Nations in Lesotho. They have been actively involved at WBC for over 20 years and have been involved with the Growing Nations agricultural project and supporting August and Anita Basson since 2005. During this time they have been privileged to see the tremendous impact of Growing Nations through its ‘Transformation through Sustainable Agriculture’ training programme.
In 2011 they felt called by God to become more involved and in July 2012 they started working full-time with AIM in Lesotho.
Heather’s role is the CEO of Growing Nations, with responsibility for the overall vision/strategy of the project, overseeing the finances and working on project grant/funding proposals. Barry is the project’s Creative Specialist, involved in development of marketing collateral, curriculum development, report writing and website development. He is also the leader for the AIM team in the country, a role which incorporates the vision & strategy for AIM in Lesotho and the member care of the team members. Both of them are also involved in the mentoring, coaching & discipleship of the Basotho staff team.
Growing Nations are equipping key community members, including pastors, farmers and agriculture students in Lesotho and beyond, by teaching the principles of “Farming God’s Way”, how to farm without ploughing, using Conservation Agriculture (CA) methods. The training incorporates CA farming, leadership & spiritual transformation and is delivered through the resident student program, agricultural extension work in communities & teaching visitors at the demonstration farm at Maphutseng.
